You are My Hero!
“My name is Marie Latortue. I am a Dentist originally from Haiti. Dr. Mesa – you are my Hero! You saved my life in 2001. I was involved in tragic car accident in Atlanta, GA. This incident almost put a stop to my career, but thank God you offered your time and expertise to treat me. While at the hospital, I was diagnosed with broken ribs, leg and right arm and shoulder. All of my injuries were pertinent to my dream to become a Dentist. The injury to my right arm/shoulder was the one that I was most concerned about.
I endured imaginable pain for several weeks and was not able to have the surgery because I did not have any health insurance and could not afford to pay for the surgery. Living in a foreign country without any immediate family, no health insurance and a language barrier, was very difficult. Without any help, I could either choose to go back to Haiti or be willing to lose my arm. I cannot recall how you learned about my case, but all I know is you reached out to me and gave me the best hope of life. You mentioned that it was not a great idea to go back to Haiti because of the lack of technology to repair my arm.
I will never forget that day when you saw me and looked at me with compassion. You told my cousin that you would be willing to do the surgery for me for free. Today, I still have that right arm to serve others and glorify God. I am now working as a Dentist/Assistant Professor at Baylor University. I am married and I am the proud mother of two boys. I never experienced any pain or discomfort with the pin that you inserted in my arm. You are the best Doctor ever! Most importantly you saved my life. I will always keep you and your family in my prayer.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Extremely Efficient and Capable
“On October 2, 2016 I completely tore all three of my hamstrings off of the pelvic bone after a slip on a wet floor and I was in extreme pain. I could not walk without crutches and it was very difficult to do basic things like walking up steps or sitting. I needed surgery immediately, this surgical repair is rare and there are not a lot of doctors that have experience with this type of injury. My research led me to Dr. Mesa with Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists. My husband and I met with Dr. Mesa, he answered all of our questions, he explained that I would need to wear a brace and not put any weight on the repaired leg for about 6 weeks. He told me that I needed to be patient with this recovery and I have been. I am now 2 months into my recovery and I am walking!!! This is all due to Dr. Mesa’s god given talents…
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists; they assisted me from start to finish with the many details that are associated surgery, FMLA and physical therapy. Each and every associate has a special job and they are extremely efficient and capable.
Thanks for helping me walk and sit again without pain, I think about how grateful I am every day!!”
